Overview of EDUC 450

Going into EDUC 450 I had the belief of community and how important it is to build that community.  I still have that belief and I still believe it is very important in a classroom/school. My passion has always been art but after 450 that passion is making art more interesting to students and connecting art to stories and curiosity. I believe that if we can make students curious they will want to learn and retain that information.
I had the pleasure of working in an advanced sculpture class. I don't often find myself  creating sculptures as an art form I enjoy so it was a fun challenge to get students to enjoy creating something that I don't always work with. The class I worked with was the most well behaved classrooms that I've ever been in, and they really never had questions about the creative process. So I had a lot of time to just walk around observe and talk to the students about life and their art.

EDUC 450 for me as a student emerging into being a teacher taught me a lot of new tools for teaching. I'm hoping as I go into student teaching I can use some of those tools like see-think-wonder. I also learned a lot of behind the classroom/school as an educator. The counselors, administration, and teachers do a lot more than just what we assume they do and that to learn was very interesting. Also there isn't always answers for all questions such as what is the best classroom management, until you live it.
